-Do you live at least 50 miles away from J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital?
-Are you over the age of 18? (If not, please contact the Ronald McDonald House at 304 598 0050.)
-Are you an outpatient with an appropriate caregiver?
Rosenbaum Family House offers affordable lodging and support services at a nightly rate of $30. No one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. Grateful guests and generous friends of Family House cover the balance.
Family House can only provide one room per patient, but we can help your family make arrangements to receive a discount at a local hotel if you need an additional room. Guests are responsible for payment of their hotel bill.
Due to the great demand for rooms, Family House always has a waiting list. We cannot guarantee the availability of rooms daily.
As rooms become available, they are given to the families who have been on the waitlist the longest. Long-term outpatients are given priority, and all room assignments are made at the discretion of the director. To remain on the waitlist, please call our front desk and check in by 12 p.m. each day. If you fail to do so, your name will be removed.
Family House staff and volunteers can help you find a local hotel until a room becomes available. Please note that discount rates and room availability are subject to hotel discretion.
*Patients with WV Medicaid are required to contact Modivcare for eligibility before arriving at the Rosenbaum Family House. Please call 1-844-549-8353 for more information.
*Service animals (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, including guide, hearing, and service dogs) will be admitted to all areas of the Rosenbaum Family House when accompanying a disabled employee, patient, or visitor. Proof that the service animal is current on all vaccinations required by law, such as rabies vaccinations, is required PRIOR to checking in (This is per hospital policy and allowed under the Americans with Disabilities Act.) If vaccination records are not available, guests can be referred to a hotel at a discounted rate. Guests can stay on the waitlist, and after the documents are produced, can be offered a room once one becomes available. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not considered service animals under Title II and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act and are not permitted to stay in Rosenbaum Family House.
