Do I qualify to stay at
Rosenbaum House?

Rosenbaum Family House provides affordable lodging and support services to WVU Medicine outpatients and adult patient families. A patient must be 18 years of age or older, and guests must live at least 50 miles from Morgantown to qualify for a room.

Families of patients under 18 should contact the Ronald McDonald House at 304-598-0050 for accomodations.

Outpatients staying at Family House must have an appropriate caregiver.

Rosenbaum Family House does not accept reservations.  WVU Medicine staff can submit a request for an outpatient or patient family to be put on the waitlist.  Advanced reservations will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Due to the unpredictable nature of medical treatment, we are unable to foresee how many rooms will be available each day.

The nightly rate at the Rosenbaum Family House is $30. No guest is ever turned away due to inability to pay. The balance is covered by grateful guests and generous friends of Family House.

Family House can only provide one room per patient, but we can assist your family with making arrangements to receive a discount at a local hotel if additional room is needed. Guests are responsible for payment of their hotel bill.

If you qualify, ask a hospital employee to submit an electronic request to be placed on the Family House waitlist .

Due to the great demand for rooms, Family House always has a waiting list. Because guests may stay at Family House as long as the patient is undergoing medical treatment at WVU Medicine’s Morgantown area hospitals and clinics, we do not know when a room will be available for you and your family.

What else do I need to know?

Wait List Process

As rooms become available, they are given to the families who have been on the waitlist the longest. Long-term outpatients are given priority and all room assignments are made at the director’s discretion.

You are asked to check in with Family House once each day before noon to remain on the waitlist. If you fail to check in, your name will be removed.

Family House staff and volunteers can assist you in finding a local hotel until a room becomes available for you. Hotel discount rates range from $59 – $159 plus tax. Please note that discount rates and rooms are subject to availability. Guests are responsible for payment of their hotel bill.

So, you’re on the wait list…

  • Check with Family House daily before noon to remain on the waitlist, or your name is removed.
  • To qualify for the discount, you must get a referral form from the Family House front desk.
  • If a room isn’t available at Family House, we can assist you in finding a hotel.
  • Discount rates and rooms are subject to availability.
  • Discount hotel rates range from $59 – $159 plus tax.
  • You are responsible for payment of your hotel room bill.

*Patients with WV Medicaid are required to contact Modivcare for eligibility prior to arriving at the Rosenbaum Family House. Please call 1-844-549-8353 for more information.

*Service animals (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act include guide, hearing, and service dogs) will be admitted to all areas of the Rosenbaum Family House when accompanying a disabled employee, patient, or visitor. Proof that the service animal is current on all vaccinations required by law, such as rabies vaccinations, ARE required PRIOR to checking in (This is per hospital policy and allowed under the Americans with Disabilities Act.) If vaccination records are not available, guests can be referred to a hotel using our discount. Guests can stay on the waitlist and after the documents are produced, can be offered a room once one becomes available. Emotional support, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are NOT service animals under Title II and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act and are not permitted to stay in Rosenbaum Family House.
